We finally head out of the town of Whakatane after being bound by the weather for several days. We check out the nearby Ohope Beach before leaving the coastline but with the fog or mist (the weather people couldn't decide which) it looked a little grey.
We set our sights on the Sulphur City of Rotorua - a popular thermal region, dubbed as being the most visited. After hitting town, our first stop is the Information Centre to find out the times of the shows at the Agrodome.
The principle attraction at the Agrodome is the Sheep Show which features a display of the various breeds of sheep farmed in New Zealand, a sheep shearing demonstration, mock Auction, cow milking, and a favourite for the kids - feeding the lambs. The show lasts around 30 minutes and is followed by a Dog Trial - which puts the Eye Dog to the test in rounding up a small herd and eventually herding them into a pen.
We finish our visit to Agrodome, after checking out the Woollen Mill where wool is processed and converted into yarn, then made a brief orientation of Rotorua for the morning visits. We also head out to Waimangu Volcanic Valley and Wai-o-tapu for general information for the morning before turning off to Waikite Valley Thermal area to spend the night.
