November 7, 2007:
Yesterday we arrived in Toronto after leaving Churchill and catching an earlier than planned flight from Winnipeg which had us arriving in Toronto in the early evening.
Our flight to Germany was due to depart today at 5:30pm, so we had most of the day to relax a little then take care of a few last minute errands.
As usual, we were a little nervous about the weight of our luggage since the airlines insist on continually reducing the luggage allowances. We had packed and repacked, then re-shuffled items from bag to bag until we were somewhat satisfied. Rolf must have a built in set of scales because we were pretty much spot on! It's crazy that the equipment required for us to perform our jobs is more than ever but we have to pay so much for overweight luggage. What irks us the most is the fact that the beautiful pictures we take are featured in the very brochures which encourage people to fly away on vacation, but the airlines offer no concession. In fact they charge us even more by making it nearly impossible to travel with all the equipment we need within the guidelines they provide - and they charge like wounded bulls!
We're not the only ones whining, many of our fellow passengers are also unimpressed! At least this time we managed to stay within the weight limit with our equipment - not that we have anything to wear during our stay in Germany, but luckily they are fairly liberal in europe! ☺
So one adventure is put on hold while a new adventure is about to begin. This time there will be fewer blog entries to begin with as we'll be doing a lot of 'office' work. Be sure to tune in again soon though, cos you never know what we might get up to or when!
