Today we walked a million miles - or so it felt! It was castle day! After lucking out with a park close to the castle, there were still many sights to see on the short walk to the gates including historic palaces, elaborate water features, and monuments. We spent the first hour outside the castle gates photographing stunning views over the city and Vltava River, as well as the village of Mala Strana below Prague Castle. On the hour, every hour is the changing of the guard so before entering the Castle grounds, we observed this hourly ritual.
Once inside the Prague Castle Grounds we made our way to St Vitus’s Cathedral, a gothic stylic church with sharp pointed spires, vaulted ceilings, elaborate pulpit and stained glass windows, and an enormous pipe organ.
The Prague Castle grounds are quite large and contain shops, cafes, and many cobbled lanes including the famous little Golden Lane. By now we are exhausted, but still have to climb the hill to the monastery - Strahov.
